Frequently Asked Questions About Sessions - San Jose Family Photographer - Laura Pope

I wanted to put together a blog post about some frequently asked questions that you might be having before booking a session together! If I'm missing anything, feel free to contact me so I can add it to the post!

1) How long are sessions?

All of my sessions are untimed, so there is no need to stress to cram everything in a set time. When you arrive, we'll chat a little bit, I'll meet the family, and then we'll get started! There will be plenty of time for playing, snacks, breaks, exploring, and more! Most sessions last around an hour, but really just varies by session.

2.) How much are your sessions and what do they include?

Maternity and family sessions are $625. Newborn sessions are $675. All of my packages are all inclusive which means that your gallery will be packed to the brim with all of the good stuff from your session. I don't limit galleries at a certain number. Each session also includes custom wardrobe guidance if you need help picking a cohesive outfit. Check out this post to see a few wardrobe boards that I've put together recently!

3.) Where are we going to take the pictures?

I travel throughout the Bay Area and have many different locations that I love using! We can use one of my favorite locations, somewhere new, or even your home! We'll talk about this extensively once you book, but feel free to check out 4 of my favorite spots to use in San Jose and the Bay Area.

4.) How do we know how to pose?

This is the question I get most, believe it or not. And trust me, I understand why it's the biggest concern. If you choose me to be your photographer, then you have probably looked over my portfolio and seen that I show a lot of candid, in-between, real, moments. I imagine you want those photos of your family too, but you don't know if you'll be able to "act" like that in front of the camera. Here's the secret. Sometimes these moments happen naturally, but most of the time, I'll be guiding you into these "poses". I'll be pretty specific, which I've found super helpful because asking you to "act normal" or "pretend like I'm not here", doesn't quite feel right. I mean, not many people stand in a field kissing their husbands, so I'll walk you through the whole process. Guiding you into natural situations that do actually happen in your family. Here are 5 posing techniques I use for couples. I'm working on a family one too, so stay tuned!

5.) What kind of camera do you use?

If you're a professional photographer, a mom-tog (i.e.: someone who loves taking pictures of their kids) a hobbyist, or just curious about what's in my bag, then this post is for you!!

6.) Why should we choose you?

Ok, no one has ever asked me this directly, but I think everyone has to answer this question before hiring anyone. The truth is... there are so many wonderful artists and photographers in the Bay Area. Truly, no shortage of creative minds here. What I can say is that I love what I do and I believe this shows in different aspects of my work. One being that I'm accessible, present, and here for you during the entire process. Not just on the day of your session, but the before, during, and after. I value you. I value your time, your money, and I'm humbled by your decision to pick me. If you want to see what some of my clients have said, check out my testimonials page!

And there you have it! Again, if you have anything else you want to see here, just send me an email at laura@laurapopephotography.com, and I'll be sure to add it to the post!
